Pallet calculation
A pallet plan decides how many cartons go on a pallet and how many pallets go into a vehicle. A good plan lowers freight cost and damage risk.
Common pallet sizes
| Pallet | Size |
|---|---|
| EUR / EPAL 1 | 120 × 80 cm |
| EUR 2 / ISO | 120 × 100 cm |
| EUR 6 (half) | 80 × 60 cm |
| US (GMA) | 48 × 40 in (121.9 × 101.6 cm) |
| Asia | 110 × 110 cm |
Example
Carton footprint 40 × 30 cm on a 120 × 80 cm EUR pallet: 9,600 / 1,200 = 8 cartons per layer. Five layers give 40 cartons.
Loading into vehicles
A standard 13.6 m trailer takes 33 EUR pallets single-stacked. A 20' container holds about 11 and a 40' about 25 EUR pallets (floor, single-stacked).
Ertaş Global Logistics can help with a quote for your pallet plan.
Do not forget pallet height: the internal height of the vehicle or container limits the number of layers. Cartons that overhang the pallet increase damage risk and can change the pallet count. For non-stackable pallets, also check the LDM calculation.
